Hardwood floors can maintain their just-installed look

Hardwood flooring comes in many interesting colors and grains. Varying finishes and textures add to its visual appeal. Domestic species like maple, oak, and hickory are perennial favorites while exotic species add to the available choices. LuXe Interiors brings the trendiest flooring products to the Ann Arbor, Michigan, area. We install wood floors, and we provide services that keep existing wood floors looking their best.

Traditional solid wood

For generations, wood flooring has been finished in the home. Unfinished solid hardwood is still the best wood choice, especially for new construction. Boards boast a tight fit, and the floor is well sealed. Therefore, raw solid wood is the best choice for kitchen installations. Floors have a flush look when they are finished on-site.

Prefinished and engineered wood

Prefinished solid wood floors need no finishing treatments in the home. Available wood species are many but less than unfinished solid wood. Floors have a beveled look. Engineered wood planks have a plywood base and a top layer of species wood. The flooring tolerates moisture so it can be installed in a basement.

Installation

Flooring that has been finished in the factory takes one day to install. Prefinished boards are nailed to a wood subfloor while engineered boards usually connect at the edges so the floor can float above the subfloor. It takes one week to install unfinished boards and an additional week for the boards to acclimate to their new environment.

Maintenance

All types of hardwood floors will look new throughout their long lifespan if properly maintained. LuXe Interiors is a hardwood refinishing service company that can rejuvenate your worn wood floor. Here is when your floor can be buffed and resealed: there is minor scuffing or surface damage, the finish is looking dull and worn, or the sheen level is changed.

If there is deep scratching in a few areas, the boards can be replaced, and then the floor can be sanded and refinished. Boards do not need to be replaced when there are water stains, but again, sanding and refinishing is necessary. The floor needs to be replaced if there is significant damage across the floor, it can’t be refinished again, or there are pet stains.

If you are looking for hardwood flooring and refinishing, you’ve come to the right place. We take care of all hardwood cleaning, polishing, and repairing needs, and we can install a new floor too.
