A carpeted room is warm and inviting

Carpet flooring adds warmth and comfort to a room and cushioning to stairs. It acts as a cover on a cold basement floor or a warm sunroom floor. It provides security under a toddler’s feet or color and texture in a teenager’s bedroom. Carpet comes in different fibers, styles, and textures, and each is ideal for different applications. LuXe Interiors is a carpet retailer that offers a large assortment of flooring as well as installation services. We work hard to bring you brands that are innovative, trendy, and stylish.

Synthetic fibers

Nylon is the most popular synthetic, or man-made, carpet fiber. Typically, nylon fibers receive treatments in the factory that ensure resistance to stains. This fiber is tough and durable, and it can bounce back after being compressed by heavy furniture or electronics. Inherently stain resistant triexta is a newer fiber that is also strong and durable and appropriate for all living areas of the home. Soft and colorful polyester is sometimes made of recycled plastic. Olefin is extremely fade-and stain-resistant.

Natural fibers

Innately resilient wool carpet floors are soft and luxurious underfoot. Because of this resiliency, wool can retain its original appearance. Soil resistance is superior. It's very difficult for dirt to become embedded in wool. While this natural fiber is durable, it's also more costly than synthetic fibers. Therefore, wool carpeting is favored for installation in a master bedroom and other light traffic areas of the home. With proper care, it has a decades-long lifespan. Sisal, seagrass, and jute are additional natural fiber options.

Pile and TPI

Carpeting is made by sewing loops of fibers onto a backing. The most durable styles of carpet flooring have a short loop pile. ‘Pile’ refers to fiber thickness as well as the length of the individual fibers. When loops are cut at the tip, the fibers are twisted, or turned, for durability. It's a good idea to note the TPI, or turns per inch when browsing through cut pile carpet samples. Look for a TPI that ranges from 4.5 to 6.0.
